My Notes (this page)

Why is persistence in prayer required?

  • Does God have a certain number of prayers required for different situations?
  • Do we talk Him into doing things?
  • Does God ever finally decide to do something?
  • Do we earn answers through hard work or perseverance?

  • The answer to all these questions is NO.

The purpose for persistence in prayer is never for overcoming God’s reluctance or to persuade God.

  • Persistence in Luke 11:8 should be without shame (boldness).
    • Same as Hebrews 4:16.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 KJV

  • We are to approach the throne with boldness rather than a sense of unworthiness or shame.

Our prayers actually release the power of Holy Spirit from us to accomplish things.

  • Praying in the Spirit releases great power.
  • Where spiritual opposition is involved, speaking the Word of God becomes a powerful sword against those powers.
  • Spirit led declarations or commands release power of Holy Spirit.
  • The laying on of hands imparts power.

There is literal power in us that Holy Spirit desires to release from us.

  • The power of God that brings life, healing, and wholeness flows from us, the Ekklesia.
  • Not only from His heavenly throne.
    • He is now enthroned in our hearts.
    • We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
      • Temple: The Holy of Holies.
      • We are now the Holy of Holies, the dwelling place of God and His glory on the earth.
    • His power emanates from us, His people, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
      • Whether through speaking, touching, laying hands on the sick, declaring, or even worship.
      • God’s power flowing on earth is through human vessels.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John 7:38 KJV

  • Heart, innermost being, womb (literally).
  • Bringing forth life.
  • Same phrase as “river of water of life” in Revelation 22:1-2.
  • Flowing from us is the Spirit of God.
    • It does not originate with us.
    • It is Holy Spirit in us, wanting to flow out from us.
  • We do the action and Holy Spirit allows His power to flow from us.
  • We also wield the sword of the Spirit, the spoken Word of God.
    • He speaks through His people.
      • Up from our spirits, out of our mouths.
      • This releases God’s power.
      • We are the mouth of God from which power and life flow.

“For verily I say unto you, ‘That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things
which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.’ Therefore I say unto you, ‘What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have
them.’”

Mark 11:23-24 KJV

  • We are to release God’s power.
    • It is Christ’s provision.
    • It is Holy Spirit’s power.
    • It is God’s word and strategy.
    • We have to release it.
      • It is our action, act of faith.
